WordPress Installation

WordPress is an open source blogging platform with many capabilities. The downside is that for some of us non-technical folks, it can be a bit difficult to install to our server and get it set up.

Enter Valley Virtual Assistants...with over 50 installs under her belt, Heather can provide a quick set up of your blog, transfer posts from your existing blog, and customize the template to your liking.

Here what you need to do before I can set up the blog:

Purchase hosting and domain (if not already done so)

I recommend Dayana Host or Dreamhost

make sure the hosting has SQL and PHP capabilities or WordPress will not work - If you have GoDaddy you MUST have at least the Delux plan AND be on a Linux server

If you are just purchasing your domain and host, be sure that you switch your DNS servers. (This applies if you purchase your domain and host from different vendors.) If you already have a site hosted on the domain, this will not apply to you.

Pick out your template. If you would like any graphical design work done to the header or other graphics, the hourly rate of $30 will be charged. You can get a list of over 335 templates here: http://blogging.typepad.com/how_to_blog/2005/03/comprehensive_l.html

You will have to give me access to your control panel. Rest assured I will not abuse this privilege, however, I will let you know when I am finished working in the control panel and you can reset your password.

Please transfer funds based on the fee schedule below via PayPal to: heather@valleyva.net . Once I have your payment and information sheet your WordPress Blog will be completed within five business days. (If there will be delays, you will be notified and will be offered a refund.)

When your Blog is set up, I will provide you with the link to access your dashboard as well as your username and password. You will be able to change your password once you log in to the dashboard for the first time.

You will be offered a simple walk through of the dashboard via Raindance for up to 20 minutes. Additional time beyond the 20 minute walk through will be billed at $45 an hour billed in minute increments.

Any design changes to the code of the pages or the graphics associated with the blog will be charged at the hourly rate of $45 an hour billable in minute increments.
